A baby boomer, Dave completed a 6 year indentured apprenticeship as a Compositor in the printing industry but soon, suffering from 'Itchy Feet', left home for a two month adventure, hitch-hiking to Spain and back on £50. Whilst on the road met up with like-minded hitchers from America, Germany, Scandinavia and Israel. He expressed an interest in the idea to live and work on a kibbutz and his Israeli friend’s advice was to give it a try but be prepared for a few cultural shocks.

About the location: Mackworth Rd, Porthcawl CF36 5BT 01656 782432 The Hi Tide has a history dating back to 1947 when Giovanni opened a beach shop and a few wooden stalls selling teas for the beach. Since these small beginnings, the Hi-Tide has steadily grown to become the borough's top cabaret and function venue. The Harbour Lights bar is a sea-facing lounge with outstanding beach views and is traffic free. Ample seating both inside and on our sun deck, provides an ideal place to enjoy daily meals and drinks.
