Bikes & Boats
As a charity we rely totally on donations from the public and hope that by taking part in this Bikes and Boats event you will offer support to Porthcawl RNLI Lifeboat.
We plan to arrive at the allotted parking area at the Marina at 12:45pm. In the marina area there are several outlets where you can purchase drinks and light refreshments. It is more than likely that the event will attract public also, especially to view the bikes and our display.
During your stay you will be welcome to walk around the marina area and visit our boathouse which will be manned by our Sea Safety team who will act as guides.
Porthcawl Lifeboat is one of the busiest in Wales, in 2024 we carried out 86 service calls, the RNLI confirmed that we had saved 14 lives and assisted over 92 casualties.
You can see close up our two inshore lifeboats, a ‘D’ class named Hugo Missen and an Atlantic 85 named Rose of the Shires. Also on view will be our Talas launching tractor and special hydraulic Atlantic 85 trailer; along with the Tooltrac launch vehicle for the D class lifeboat.
Sea and operational conditions allowing the lifeboats will be launched around 2:00pm and will carry out a short display in Sandy Bay, known as Coney beach by many. You will be able to watch the launching from the Breakwater area or from certain vantage points around the marina area.
